Description

Product Information

Our extruded Christmas tree netting is designed for commercial Christmas tree baling at grower’s farms, wholesale operations, retail tree lots, and other high-volume seasonal businesses. The netting compresses tree branches into a more compact profile as the tree passes through a compatible baler, making fresh-cut trees easier to handle, stage, load, and transport.

The material is soft, pliant, and tear resistant for use in any climate. This combination supports seasonal operations where trees are repeatedly handled as they move from harvest through shipping, retail staging, customer loading, and transportation.

Extruded netting is available in a broad selection of sizes to accommodate different balers and tree sizes. Current cartridge sizes include 8", 10", 12", 14", 16", 18", 20", 23", and 26", depending on cartridge length. Available cartridge lengths include 520', 700', and 875'.

Natural and red netting are available and should be specified when ordering.

For commercial operations, baling provides important workflow advantages. Compressing the branches reduces the overall profile of the tree, making it easier for employees and customers to maneuver trees through the lot and load them onto or into vehicles. Netting also helps contain the branches during transportation.

Kirk's compressed cartridge cases are designed to reduce shipping and storage space, an additional consideration for growers and retailers ordering netting in commercial quantities.

Extruded netting is also identified as #4 recyclable, providing operators with useful material information when evaluating disposal or recycling procedures.

Key Benefits

  • Simplifies tree handling: Compresses branches into a more manageable profile for movement through harvest, staging, retail, and loading operations.
  • Supports faster customer loading: Baled trees are easier to maneuver and position for transportation.
  • Helps contain branches during transport: Netting keeps branches compressed as trees are moved from the farm or retail lot.
  • Soft and pliant material: Designed to conform around Christmas trees during the baling process.
  • Tear-resistant construction: Intended for commercial tree-baling operations and use in varying climates.
  • Multiple netting sizes: Available sizes support a range of compatible balers and tree requirements.
  • Multiple cartridge lengths: 520', 700', and 875' options allow operators to select netting based on equipment size and production requirements.
  • Compressed cases: Cartridge packaging reduces shipping space.
  • Recyclable material: Extruded netting is identified as #4 recyclable.

Applications & Use Cases

Christmas Tree Farms & Growers: Bale harvested Christmas trees before staging, loading, or shipping. Compressing branches makes trees easier for crews to handle as they move through post-harvest operations.

Wholesale Christmas Tree Operations: Net trees before distribution to reduce their profile and simplify handling during loading, unloading, staging, and transportation.

Retail Christmas Tree Lots: Bale customer-selected trees before they leave the lot. A compact, netted tree is easier to carry through the sales area and load for customer transportation.

Choose-and-Cut Farms: Incorporate a baling station into the customer checkout and loading workflow so harvested trees can be compressed before customers transport them home.

High-Volume Seasonal Operations: Multiple cartridge lengths and netting sizes allow operators to maintain supplies matched to their baling equipment and expected seasonal tree volume.

Approximate tree quantities are provided as general bale estimates. Actual netting consumption will depend on the trees being processed and the amount of netting used per tree.

How It Works

  1. Determine the required netting size. Measure the back side of the baler at the widest point where the tree trunk exits the baler.
  2. Select the corresponding extruded netting size and appropriate cartridge length.
  3. Install the netting cartridge on the compatible Christmas tree baler according to the baler's operating instructions.
  4. Pull the required netting into position on the baler.
  5. Feed the Christmas tree through the baler so the branches are compressed toward the trunk.
  6. Allow the netting to move over the compressed tree as it exits the baler.
  7. Separate and secure the netting according to the baling procedure.
  8. Move the baled tree to staging, shipping, customer pickup, or vehicle loading.
