The
Nordman Fir is the European Christmas tree of choice. It
is native to the mountains of the Black Sea. The Nordmann
is one of the handsomest of all the firs. Its dark green
glossy needles are borne on symmetrically arranged branches
exhibiting a perfectly pyramidal specimen evergreen. Nordman
Fir is one
of the most important species grown for Christmas trees,
being favored for its attractive foliage, with needles that
are not sharp, and do not drop readily. It is also the least
fragrant of our Christmas trees, which makes it the perfect
tree for those with allergies who still want the look of
a freshly cut Christmas tree.
Fun Fact: The Nordman Fir has excellent
needle retention qualities and is quickly becoming known
as one of the "Hoover
friendly" trees.
