fraser fir christmas tree

fraser firThe Fraser Fir is an elegant fir tree. Originally a native of North Carolina and closely related to the Balsam Fir, this tree has a deep lush green color with soft silvery needles. The Fraser is a great ornamental Christmas tree because of its density and compactness. Its fragrance, appearance, strong branches and ability to retain its needles for the Christmas season when cut make it an excellent choice for this purpose. The combination of form, needle retention, dark blue-green color, pleasant scent and excellent shipping characteristics has led to Fraser Fir to being a very popular Christmas tree species.

Fun Fact: In the past, it was also sometimes known as "she-balsam" because resin could be "milked" from its bark blisters, in contrast to the "he balsam" (Red Spruce) which could not be milked.
